This qualification is suitable for anyone whose job includes any administration focused role in any industry. Its objectives involve developing the underpinning knowledge and skills required to succeed in employment or further studies.

The Level 3 Diploma in Business Studies qualification also provides learners with an in depth understanding of the operations and structure of businesses in areas that include Economics and Accounting, IT for Business, Marketing, Customer Services, Events Marketing, Research and Academics Skills, People Management, it represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to GCE AS/A Levels.

Successful completion of this qualification will equip learners with the underpinning
knowledge and skills required to succeed in employment or further studies which enables learners gain direct entry into Year 1 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree or pursue Level 4 Diplomas.

This qualification is approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), many universities acknowledge the ability of learners after studying Level 3 Diploma in Business Studies and consider for direct entry into a range of their Bachelor's degree programmes.

The Level 3 Diploma in Business Studies qualification consists of 4 mandatory units plus 2
optional units for a combined total of 60 credits, 600 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT)
and 360 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

Course structure

Below is a list of Group A Mandatory Units: 40 credits part of what makes the qualification. The Group B Optional Units: minimum 20 credits will be selected with your allocated Tutor inline to your academic teaching needs and requirements.
  • Introduction to Research and Academic Skills (10 credits ).
  • Using IT for Business (10 credits ).
  • Introduction to Economics and Accounting (10 credits ).
  • Introduction to the Business Environment (10 credits ).
  • Entry requirement:

    • Learner must be aged 16 or over to be on the course.
    • Learner must have sufficient capability at the right level to undertake the learning and
    assessment criteria.


    Method of Assessment:
    This qualification is internally assessed and quality assured by Centre staff then externally quality assured. This is a knowledge and competence-based qualification.
    Knowledge evidence includes but not limited to written work completed then submitted online via the e-portfolio system, assignment tasks and where possible reports from work placement while considering GDPR as required as part of assessment.
    Direct observation of competence inline to unit standard and learner’s Organisation policy and procedure has to be followed.
    To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, you must provide evidence to demonstrate that you have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. Judgement that you have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by your allocated Assessor.
